The Blog

To the Sorrelli Family, supporting women in their passion and in life is our number one goal. Our CEO sat down for some tea and coffee, with her grandmother Lagora, one of the original Sorrelli staff members ;) and a Breast Cancer survivor. On our blog, Lily talks with her about the process and the love and support she received during her treatment.

Last month our design team, our founder Lisa and her daughter Ivy joined us in our Kutztown store for a DIY necklace event. Customers hand-selected stones and crystals to create a one-of-a-kind version of our Delicate Round Tennis Necklace.

If you missed out on this in-store event, no worries we put together a family-friendly DIY Necklace tutorial on how you can create your own one-of-a-kind necklace at home with friends and family using polymer clay.

As summer winds down and we start to get back to a new, quarantine-era version of our school/work fall routine, we’re excited to be harvesting our vegetables, fruits, herbs, and flowers in the gardens we’ve sowed and tended all summer.

Our founder and head designer, Lisa, gets most of her inspiration for design from her time in the garden, studying the color palettes of flowers…

Now that the coronavirus has hit the US, many of us are protecting ourselves with masks. I believe wearing a mask is great to limit the spread of germs, and protect not only yourself, but the vulnerable high-risk population among us. Trouble is, many of the masks folks are buying are disposable, meant for single-use. At Sorrelli, we started making black cotton masks back in April and now, we are embellishing these black cotton masks with a little bit of sparkle. The simple design goes with every outfit, and they can be washed and re-used.

Sorrelli was born in the 80’s, alongside some groundbreaking social movements. We saw our ups and downs as the environment changed around us at a fairly rapid pace. We stood and fought against what was wrong and pushed for acceptance and support. My parents were heavily involved in the artist community, as they were and are, inherently artists! Having many friends who were wrongly cast out, and were really struggling, they took a stand by making jewelry for those friends that needed help. They started by making crosses for those affected by the AIDS epidemic, A small gesture, but one that aimed to bring power and strength by showing support and togetherness in our community.

When I compost, I feel like I am contributing a small part to make a better planet earth while also feeding the plants I love. I’m a big fan of gardening, and composting is nature’s way of restoring the soil & keeping our earth healthy.  Composting feeds the soil naturally and my soul at the same time.

My Mother started Sorrelli in the eighties. Having nothing fancy to wear to parties, she made a statement with her bold handmade creations. Coming from a strong Italian- American heritage and love for family, the name Sorrelli was curated from the Italian word for sisters, sorelle.
