The word “handcrafted” is defined in the American Heritage Dictionary as “fashioned or made by hand.”

Today, most fashion jewelry is not made “by hand.” It is mass-produced using a process called casting, which involves pouring molten metal into a mold. Once the metal solidifies, it is removed from the mold and cleaned and filed to eliminate roughness.

Each mass-produced piece is identical. Thousands of pieces can be made from one mold and, because removing the roughness requires quite a bit of cleaning and filing, these cast pieces lack the intricate detail of handcrafted pieces and are often less durable. In other words, the casting process sacrifices quality and uniqueness for quantity, speed and economy.

Sorrelli jewelry is handcrafted by talented designers and skilled artisans who are trained in traditional jewelry-making techniques. Each piece is hand soldered, carved and shaped, and has the genuine feel of a fine handmade piece of jewelry.
